We met this extraordinary chef the summer of 2012 at the Aloft and nothing has changed. At least NOT her cooking skills. Tonya set out this Black History month to remind us again why she is a Chef to the Celebrities! Just recently, she had the honor of cooking for the world famous Bill Cosby! Romancing your Palate event was nothing short of outstanding. There, she laid all kinds of decadent appetizers, deserts and finger foods for all! Whether you were a vegan, vegetarian or meat lover you left the event full and satisfied. Here are some pictures of the Elite night:

Black History News

Claudette Colvin was the first person arrested for what Rosa Parks became famous for—resisting the bus segregation in Montgomery Alabama.  Born on September 5, 1939 in Montgomery, AL, Colvin was just sixteen years old when she decided that she no longer wanted to be treated as a substandard citizen.  But unfortunately, she never received the historical recognition she deserved.
Here are a few facts about this lady that may interest you:

FACT #1: Colvin was part of the NAACP Youth Council and was learning about Civil Rights in school.  She was noted as being a straight A student who once aspired to be the President of the United States.

FACT #2:  The day she refused to give up her seat, she said that she’d been thinking about how Blacks couldn’t try on clothing at department stores and that’s what sparked her courage.

Former Member of EnVogue talks about how she use to stir up the drama in the group

Dawn Robinson who is a former member of EnVogue and former participant on the show R&B Divas, came clean about stirring up trouble, but is adamant that it was for a good cause.
As reported on Eurweb.com Smith explained the issues she had with the pay structure of the record companies, the infighting with EnVogue and her fight for equally, in the music industry.
“Well, I’ve been considered a troubled artist, a troublemaker, a problem, a difficult artist over the years, and I have been. I agree! I’ve totally been very difficult because we only made two pennies per album. I think anybody would be postal if they were only making two pennies and everybody else was making millions every album for what their hard work manifested,” she explained to Ebony magazine.
