George Zimmerman could wind up on the receiving end of a Stand Your Ground defense.
The lawyer for Matthew Apperson, the Orlando-area man suspected of shooting at the notorious neighborhood watchman, intends to argue that his client was trying to protect himself after Zimmerman waved a gun at him.
“By every fact we have uncovered through the investigation, Apperson acted in self-defense,” attorney Mark Nejame told The Daily News on Tuesday. “He was in fear of George Zimmerman.”
Florida’s Stand Your Ground statute allows residents to shoot — rather than retreat — if they feel threatened.
