Oprah Confronts 50 Cent

Remember how a few years ago, 50 Cent accused Oprah Winfrey of being a white woman, just like one in her audience, after she had taken various stances against the facet of hip-hop culture that once made him such a musical force? Me neither, but she sure did and she confronted him on it long and hard in an interview that ran alongside her Paris Jackson sit-down on last night'sOprah's Next Chapter.
In the discussion, Fiddy comes off as a sloppy performer, calling the beef "strategy" and saying, "I had to create a reasoning" regarding the demographics of Oprah's audience. Well, he'll never be accused of being a statistician. "If I can't be your friend, at least let me be your enemy so I [could] coexist," he said. Oprah thought this was "interesting." She was being polite.

Benzino's Nephew opens fire at a funeral

A Randolph man accused of opening fire on his uncle, a rapper and reality TV show personality, during a funeral procession on Route 3 South Saturday was ordered held without bail today, while his attorneys insisted that he acted in self-defense and cooperated with investigators.
Judge J. Thomas Kirkman ordered Gai Scott, 36, held after a dangerousness hearing in Plymouth District Court, where more than a dozen supporters showed up. Scott is accused of shooting his uncle, Raymond E. Scott, 48, who goes by the stage name “Benzino.”
The shooting occurred while Gai Scott was driving through Duxbury in a Bentley as part of a procession headed to a funeral service for his grandmother, police said.
Scott told investigators his uncle pulled up beside him in the left lane, rolled down his window, and said, “You got a problem with me,” and then threatened to kill him, according to a police report filed in court.
Scott asserted that he opened fire after he saw his uncle flash a gun at him, the report said.
A not-guilty plea had been entered on Scott’s behalf on Monday to a charge of armed assault with intent to murder.
Defense attorney Jon Ciraulo said Gai Scott had fired at his uncle because he feared for his life and the lives of his family members. He added that Gai Scott’s family was also concerned about Raymond Scott being in the Boston area for the funeral of his mother, Mary A. “Kinky” (Timas) Scott.
One relative, Janiya Snape, sought a restraining order against Raymond Scott in Dorchester District Court days before the funeral, Ciraulo said. In seeking the order, Snape wrote that Raymond Scott had appeared with several men at Keohane Funeral Home on March 22 and harassed her mother, Maureen Scott, according to an affidavit filed in court said. Maureen Scott is Raymond Scott’s sister.

The Legend Frankie Knuckles dies

Legendary music producer Frankie Knuckles has passed away at the age of 59.
Knuckles, who became known as the Godfather of House, was a pioneer of the house music movement in the '80s in New York City and Chicago.
After forming Def Mix Productions with his friend David Morales, he worked with some of the biggest singers in the business like Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.
Knuckles' first break as a solo artist was in 1991 when Virgin released his debut album,Beyond the Mix—which featured several major hits like "The Whistle Song" and "Rainfalls."
In 2004, Chicago renamed a portion of Jefferson Street, near the site of the original Warehouse club where he played regularly, as Frankie Knuckles Way.
"I am devastated to write that my dear friend Frankie Knuckles has passed away today. Can't write any more than this at the moment. I'm sorry," Morales said on Twitter.
He also added on Facebook, "My brother my friend my mentor my king. Where do we go from here?" with a photo of him hugging his longtime confidant.
The Roots' Questlove Jenkins wrote on his social media account, "Jesus man. Frankie Knuckles was so under-appreciated. He was the dj that dj's aspired to be. True dance pioneer."
Knuckles, who was born Francis Nicholls, was born in the Bronx in 1955. At this time, the official cause of death is unknown.
