It is never the best idea to disrespect a judge.
And Scandal star Columbus Short found this out to his cost when he was hammered after failing to show up at family court on Wednesday.
His tardiness certainly did not pay off, as he has been ordered to hand over a whopping $17,005 a month in spousal support to estranged wife Tanee McCall.

However there are even more financial repercussions for the 31-year-old actor, for according to TMZ he will now also have to hand over $4,542 a month in child support as well as pay $25,000 to cover Tanee's legal bills.
She recently filed for divorce from Short citing irreconcilable differences and is seeking sole custody of their two-year-old daughter Ayala, though he is yet to respond to the petition.
The couple have been married since 2005 and she previously filed for divorce last September before changing her mind and withdrawing the petition.
Authorities arrested Short on February 18 for alleged domestic violence against his wife.
