A Bolt Bus from New York City bound for Boston exploded on the Massachusetts Turnpike Monday afternoon.
Dramatic video shows the bus stopped on the turnpike, thick gray smoke billowing from its engine and windows. Suddenly, the bus explodes, flames bursting through the windows. The bus had been evacuated prior to the explosion.
Greyhound, which owns Bolt Bus, told Gothamist the bus had 47 passengers aboard. “Once the driver noticed smoke, the driver pulled over, evacuated the bus and called local authorities, who are currently investigating the situation. All 47 customers that were onboard are unharmed and were able to retrieve all their belongings,” the company said.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
